"I hate waste and like that someone's waste is another person's treasure. "
I am moving location to Newcastle but still have our house in Oxfordshire as our sale fell through. Now we're having to kit out a rental in Newcastle and do up our house in Oxfordshire to let out. Freegle has been great in finding items. I've also managed to find homes for items that we no longer need, which is great.

"Getting ready to move house"
I realised that there is lots of stuff that I have acquired over the years, which just isn't getting used. Life is too busy at the moment, and I would rather other people had the opportunity to have them if they'd like. Hopefully they can bring someone else some happiness.

"Triplets!"
My daughter gave birth to triplets and was visiting and we needed cots! We were given this cot. We no longer need it and as people have given us so many things for the triplets we want to pass on the kind gestures

When I first started out it was with help and 'bargains ' I can't bear the idea of items going to the tip when someone might need or want them even if they might need a little work (I can't do that anymore). Charity shops won't take so many items because they are old upholstery or not looking perfect. I like the idea that there might be people who can give everything a chance. We have been trying to declutter and now hope Freegle will be a better option.

Its lovely to freegle stuff, and when needing something to be able to have these things too. Over the years i have freegled many items, and i started with no furniture so it did help me to start a fresh. The kindness of other people always raises a smile with me! people do the kindest of things on this site, and are thankfull for their items and vise versa. Happy freegling.... Amy.

"Good to give!"

I have given a few bits lately due to moving house. I have been lucky that everyone has collected quickly and has sent me a 'thank you' too!
I'd rather give than letting this go to waste.

Don't forget to use the 'thumbs up' (or thumbs down if you really have to) on profiles after your Freegle transaction. It helps others know a bit about the person and build up your profile. I find this feature really useful 👍😎

"Love freegle, so lovely to help people why not give for free what you don't use, make someone happy 😊 "
I have given a tumble dryer, industrial sewing machine, bicycle,. Been through so much, now my husband is palliative at home and things are not important anymore,. Give to people who can use them, life's hard enough.

"What goes around..."
I've cleared three family homes of parents and grandparents and removed many items through freegle. I've also moved house and sold and given things, returning some time later to my unfurnished home, which has been refurnished with help from freegle and charity shops. It's great helping each other.

"My Freegle story"
I love gardening and have got a large garden. Over the years I've bought quite a few different plants which come back each year. When I find some spare plants I dig them and pot them up and then give them àway to people.
I've also got quite a few different houseplants which I take cuttings from , then put on freegle.
People bring me items to find homes for.
All the clothing that are given me goes to a clothes Bank in a deprived area of Barnsley.
All egg boxes go to a small local shop to reuse.
Amazon cardboard mailer envelopes and bubble wrap go to a friend who I met on here, she sells things to raise money for charities
Ornaments, kitchen stuff, DVDs , cds, books are given to a stall to raise money for McMilan nurses.
So as you can see all items which people give me find a good home and are saved from filling up landfills.

Just wanted to say a big thankyou and a very big CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who has taken items and kept them out of landfill.
We had to clear my in-laws house full of furniture and personal items.
I'm pleased to report that together we have succeeded in re-using everything except for 3 bamboo seats which will be collected by the council on Wednesday.

On moving to our new home in Brixham several years ago we found a large wooden ladder and lots of florescent tubes stored in the shed. I put them all on the recycle sites, thinking who is going to want these? The ladder was collected by a man who wanted to do some work on his home and had no ladder. The florescent tubes were collected by a woman who had been struggling to find any.

It's been a little while I've been using freegle and so far great experience. I just got some beautiful items and I use it to declutter, help others and the environment at the same time, it's a win win situation.

"Finding new owners for stuff helps avoid the cost to the planet of new stuff"
1
There are two costs for every item — cost of purchase and cost of disposal. While the latter is normally not monetary, but rather environmental, it is nonetheless real, since the world is deteriorating fast due to the production of goods. Every item freegled avoids the need to produce a similar item so the second cost can be avoided.
This is why I freegle.

I'm Glenn - I've been an ardent freegler / freecycler / upcycler for many years, and I think it's fabulous that we're able to use the internet in such a positive way as this. It builds community sentiment, does away with waste and can really help people. I grew up in a household with not much money, and 'make do and mend' was the norm there. It's a good way to live, and it makes me happy that so many of us have adopted it in our current era -- it's respectful to ourselves, to others and to the environment - and it can be fun too.

I've been repairing old radios and audio kits since I was about 7, then became a TV engineer. I've alway been a make do and mend it guy I suppose. When the TV trade died I fell into a rut and felt like I was a dinosaur to be honest. My son started to get into not only records but 1970's hifi kit so I restored it for him, that turned into me picking freecycle faulty audio bits up from the 1960s to early 90s and it reinvented me into a Retro audio engineer, gave me a new lease of life and loving every minute of it. None of this would have been possible if it hadn't of been for the freegle community
