"Old school freegler recently returned "
I used freegle a lot when I was younger, now giving it another go! I want to reduce waste and help people out. I'm also constantly having a clear out to try and get on top of the mess in my house!

"I don't like waste."
I can't bring myself to throw away things in good working conditions. I like to give them way so they can be used by others.

"My Freegle story"

I've been on fire this week, giving away all sorts! I absolutely LOVE FREEGLE! I am moving soon and this seemed like a really perfect time to re-home so many things...! And I've got more to come! I've been using Freegle on and off for years and I have to say that the negative reviews I've seen online do not mirror my experience. I've never had a no-show and, sure, sometimes plans changed, but it was all agreed beforehand. I'd encourage anyone to try it out!

A variety of things - books, kitchen ware, craft items, garden bits etc. These were no longer needed after I lost my Husband just over two years ago after nearly being married for 63 years.

"Many items I no longer need but still have life"
I craft create sew and mend and have so many leftovers and unwanted bits and bobs that have potential.... I have mostly given away things like fabric, yarn, toys and bric a brac.... I still have loads left to give away but find listing and photographing is not easy... so it is a slow process... and ongoing... because people know I do sewing I often mend and alter clothes .... but also people give me their fabric stash too so I have loads and loads of fabric and textiles I don't need or want....I am giving away a huge amount over the next two weeks...bit by bit

"Post stroke returned to an empty house completely without care. Unable to walk , partially sighted and one handed"

My home had been ransacked, I was left in the middle of the front room in a wheelchair without access to bed, toilet or phone. found after 3 days by the fire service. They got me a hot drink& food, found my phone& a blanket. A new bed still flat packed had been propped against the wall A friend unpacked it but could do nothing without an Allen key but knew of a site where he could ask for one. That's how I learned about freecycle

"Got given a new bike!"
2
When I was moving out of my London flat I used Freegle for the first time to donate items. Arriving in my new location of Southsea I wanted to explore on a bicycle. 5 minutes after posting my wanted ad I had a response from people in Fareham. I don't have a car so they kindly brought it over to me that evening! I'm so grateful to them and Freegle. In today's crazy world it gladdons my heart to see that kindness still exists.

I've had a large bag of mixed DVDs, a bag of X-Files DVDs. I have given away & received more as well. Not enough space to list it all. Sorry no photos.

I've been using Freecycle and then Freegle for more than 20 years.
I'm very evangelic about it and everything I give with, the exception of 2 items, has been taken. Some of the interesting things are a small rowan tree, divisions of garden and pond plants, a large piece of new kitchen work top, a big metal filing cabinet, children's outdoor toys and some old but good condition rough woollen blankets ( they were taken to be used as costumes for an historical enactment group).
Last month I gave a double air fryer and the previous month a special lamp for seasonal affective disorder.
Just last month I gave a double airfryer

"Giving items a second life"
1
I love gifting and Freecycling because I believe in the power of sustainability and community. It’s incredibly rewarding to save items from the tip and give them a second life. Whether it’s something I no longer need or an item I come across that could be of use to someone else, I find joy in sharing. By passing along things that still have plenty of life left, I feel like I'm contributing to a world where we care for our resources and support one another. It’s about reducing waste, creating connections, and fostering a culture where we all benefit from what we share.

"The best kind of recycling"
Over the years I've offered furniture, hearing loops, baby equipment, exercise machines... When I began, I don't think many of us understood how it worked, and things took a while to catch interest. But now it works really well, with unwanted items quickly finding a new home. Much better than throwing them away. I love it when people reply personally to the offer (eg ooh it's just what I need) but realise not everyone has the time to do this. The personal touch is nice, though.

"Helping others who may need stuff"
Over the years you keep stuff be cause of sentimental reasons or "it may come in handy'. We got rid of 37 years of things that had been in our loft. Soft toys, furniture, baby things. Being able to Freegle them means those that need it benefit. It makes me feel great that passing on makes a difference to somebody.

"Old Tech."
I freegled some old tech equipment some time ago and the guy who collected it told me he enjoyed digitising old VHS tapes. I had a few old family camcorder film on VHS and he kindly digitised them all. Although not living locally, he pops in to visit and we have become good friends. Well done Freegle and thanks.
